I created a VNV Modlist and expanded on it after finishing. I have generated my own LOD. I have cut my modlist down from over 200 mods to only 90 esp's.

My game keeps lagging and then crashing randomly while playing, typically when Im in combat with lots of enemies or in big locations. My computer has always been able to keep up with New Vegas before and I dont believe its the cause. My weapons also turn all black and stop making sound which I have no clue what to do about.

I have a modlist with 300 active ESP's. Most of the mods I use in this list are also used in the 300 mod list of mine. The 300 mod modlist literally NEVER crashes it is a fullproof modlist that has never EVER crashed on me while playing. Which is what I dont get I used VNV guide and less mods than my 300 mod modlist, the mods in this modlist are almost all mods I use in my 300 mod modlist which, the only mods that arent in the other modlist are the VNV suggested mods in my current playthrough.

If MORE details are needed please let me know and Ill try to provide, if you need details on something in specific please let me know

You wont like the answer.

First. your original sin is that 300+ mods load order list. it will create troubles again for you even if you fix it this time. Try cut it down in halve.

Second, Nobody going to fix your 300+mod load list. THAT kind of load assuming you are a veteran who can fix it your self.

Take an example:

  • FalloutNV.esm
  • DeadMoney.esm
  • HonestHearts.esm
  • OldWorldBlues.esm
  • LonesomeRoad.esm
  • GunRunnersArsenal.esm
  • CaravanPack.esm
  • ClassicPack.esm
  • MercenaryPack.esm
  • TribalPack.esm
  • Unofficial Patch NVSE Plus.esp
  • Fallout3.esm
  • Anchorage.esm
  • ThePitt.esm
  • BrokenSteel.esm
  • PointLookout.esm
  • Zeta.esm
  • TaleOfTwoWastelands.esm
  • YUPTTW.esm

See what's strange about the first twenty esm? Why is the freaking Unofficial Patch NVSE Plus.esp is there in the first place? How in the nine hell have you managed that? That require twisting and meddling of veteran level to do it.

Third, if this 300+ bloat monstrosity worked well for you in the past. it might be because you just install a mod, a plugin, or a scriptrunner that break the precarious balance it maintain in the past.

Think well of what you installed from the last time it run well, to now.

Fourth, the last few esp

10mmpistolReduxTTW.esp
DKSandFriendsTTW.esp
HRReduxTTWPacienciaAnimationPatch.esp
B42Inspect.esp
Classic Fallout Weapons Remastered v1.2.esp
RangerHuntingCarbine.esp
RangerHuntingCarbineSequoia.esp

Why are you installing them after the lod esps? Arent the LOD supposed to be highest priority? Why dont you try disabling these sucker and test again? Or at least, push them up the ladder higher than the lod mods.

...

That is to say, no, this sucker is out of my hand~ And lots of others' hands, too.

300+ mods!!!! It's not something to boast. it's a disaster awaiting first chance to explode.

And yes, this post is out PURELY because you said you spend 700 hours on FNV. If not for that kind of gaming time I wouldnt waste my time on writing this long ass post for an user of 300+ mod load list.

I no longer use the 300 mod, modlist. I made the second modlist, the one I have ESP's listed above cause I knew I should not use it. Should I delete both modlists entirely?

You said LOD are supposed to be highest are you talking about at the bottom of the mod list or as far up close to DLCs as possible?

I am currently making a new modlist but its safe to say I delete them both? Thank you so much for the help I really appreciate it! I am downloading Wabajacks Begin Again modlist

I have began deleting my bloated 300 modlist, do i also delete the other one. Is there anything else I should do or avoid? Once again thank you so much!

The biggest things that cause performance issues are high resolution graphics mods, mods that add a lot of creatures or NPCs to an area, and lighting mods.

Try changing your graphics setting to use lower detail textures. That alone often stops these types of crashes.

First, even this 150 mod list is not something lightweight or easy to fix. It is just possible, not impossible like the 300+.

Second, LOD mods. They all are supposed to be at lowest position in load order list aka highest priority number. Which is why I asked the reason you stuff half a dozen mods lower than them.

Third: you have lots of creatures/NPC mods that might increase the processing demand beyond your rig can handle.

Mojave Raiders.esm
Mojave Wildlife (FO3-Style).esp
MoreMojave.esm
TLD_Travelers.esm

...Chairwomen.esp
Mojave Raiders.esp
NCR Convoy.esp
NCR Robots.esp
Casino Crowds.esp
Great Khan Reinforcements.esp

ALL that, combined with high res texture mods for armors clothes and it will be too heavy. Like Titan of New West? That sucker deal with power armor, which at end-stage of FNV appear all over (salvaged power armors). If you are playing in post game mode, you might try disabling TTONW and see if it help. TTONW will cause troubles if the game suddenly process too many NPC wearing PA going around.

Enabling bModifyDirectXBehavior in NVTF can really help with memory use, also change bSelectivePurgeUnusedOnFastTravel=0 to bSelectivePurgeUnusedOnFastTravel=1 in your ini.

Thank you for all the tips, i have completely deleted my 300 modlist off my PC, should I also delete my 150 mod modlist?

I have set up the Begin Again modlist

I have also downloaded a few other mods that I find essential to my load order, do you think or know if I should/should not use these mods incase they cause trouble with load order?

FGPE

Living Desert

Mojave Wildlife FO3

Mojave Raiders

Strip NPC's uncut

Casino Crowds

Outside Bets

Uncut Wasteland, outside bets compatible

Uncut extra collection

Uncut greenhouses, road to Lanius, northern passage, skeletons

NV Interiors remastered, and NV Interiors core

New Vegas Compatibility skeleton

NVAO - Guns

Iron Sights aligned

Hip control

Intro Street Bus (TTW Content)

A World of Pain FO3

Do I disable any mods with the symbol of a sun and a arrow pointing down on it and or if version is red? For example one of the few mods that have it is Uncut Wasteland, Outside Bets Compatible.

Thanks again!

You gotta understand what mods do, and how it can drive up demands on your rig's hardware.

The list of npc/creatures mod that I mentioned? They might be fine for good rig. But might be too much if your rig is a normal laptop.

Those mods might be fine in normal situations, but at certain stage, like late game, where the number of NPC wearing power armors and the likes become more common, that drive up demands. So if you dont use HD textures of those PA, or use mods like TTONW, it might be fine.

The list of mod you listed above? They are fine, since they shouldnt drive up demand too much.

The question still remain is that whether your rig can handle those lightweight mods. ESPECIALLY if you feel itchy and install some HD texture mod~

Rule of thumb: for a Tale of Two Wasteland session, a normal laptop should be able to run it if you DONT install any HD texture mod. And Lod mods is right the f*#@ out. Normal laptop shouldnt think about messing with LOD.
